It takes approximately 7-years to grow a Huachuma from seed to harvestable size plant. Our mission is to create a fully sustainable source of Huachuma in the Sacred Valley of Peru, and we need your help. Your contribution helps us to acquire cactus that will fill this garden. Each cactus represents a prayer for the future, and each prayer is personal to us. Your support helps us to plant more cactus, tend the garden, and build out more terraces. I'M Hamid
What started as a personal journey eventually became a calling: To protect this plant, preserve the knowledge surrounding it, and ensure that future generations have access to both.
I founded the Huachuma Foundation because conservation requires structure, commitment, and community. The preservation garden in Taray is one expression of that. It's a living sanctuary in the Sacred Valley where these plants can root, grow, and be tended with the reverence they deserve.
My background spans music, law, healing arts, and plant medicine. But what I bring to this work most is time, years of relationship with this cactus, with Peru, and with the people and traditions that have kept this knowledge alive. The Adopt a Cactus campaign is an invitation to join that work in a tangible, lasting way.
